The TBMBR event would not be possible without so many people who dedicate their time, support and sponsorship to remember Tom's legacy as well as contributing to so many young individuals. Ranch Bronc Riders and spectators again converged on the West Texas town of Post to attend The 4th Annual Tom Butler Memorial Ranch Bronc Riding featuring 30 Open Bronc Riders, 15 Rookie Bronc Riders and 20 Shetland Bronc Riders. A full crowd again filled the stands in anticipation of what has become known as the Ridin’ High Bronc Riding. JK Rodeo Company, 3 Lazy S Rodeo Company and Butler/Clark Livestock brought some great bucking stock. The morning begin with “The Outlaw Chef” Terry Chandler from Fred’s Texas Café in Fort Worth providing a Chuckwagon Style breakfast, bidding on the Bronc Riders at the Calcutta and Live Auction kicked off the days event, a silent auction, the Ridin’ High Tee’s and apparel, vendor booths all were on hand for the public to browse and purchase various items from boots, leather goods, clothing and jewelry. The Ridin’ High apparel proceeds go to the TBMBR and Foundation Scholarship fund. “The event which started in 2006 has reached new levels, more than what we ever thought" The move to Post, Texas in 2008 was a good choice and is now the home of the TBMBR.
In the 2009 Open Bronc Riding Division taking home 1st place was Tyler Rice of Plainview, Texas awarding him a handmade saddle made by Jeff Gray and earning him $3000.00 in payout, 2nd place went to Pat Butler of Guthrie, Texas awarding him a pair of Terry Alward handmade spurs and earning him $2100.00 in payout, 3rd place went to Kye Fuston of Turkey, Texas awarding him a pair of Larry Abbott handmande spurs and earning him $1500.00 in payout, and 4th place went to Miles Dewitt of Rimrock, Arizona awarding him with a Yellowhair Buckle hand and earning him $750.00 in payout. Tanner Johnson of Lockney, Texas was awarded the Wildest Ride in the Open Bronc Riding receiving a Handmade Bronc Halter by Dorisann Shipp. In the Rookie Bronc Riding, winning 1st Place was Kyle Goss of Weed, New Mexico awarding him with a pair of handmade spurs by Larry Abbott and earning him $1350.00 in payout, 2nd Place was Reid McGee awarding him a pair of handmade spurs by Cody Jack and earning him $900.00 in payout. Colton Overcash of Graham, Texas was awarded the Wildest Ride in the Rookie Bronc Riding receiving a Handmade Bronc Halter by Dorisann Shipp. In the crowd pleasing Shetland Bronc Riding for 12 yrs. and under. 1st Place went to Leggin Aaron, of Hawley, Texas awarding him a pair of handmade spurs by Larry Abbott, sponsored by Larry Abbott and Bruce Slover Construction. Kaitlin Voss Placing 2nd was the lone female entrant of the entire day and was also awarded the Wildest Ride Yellowhair Buckle. Zac O’Neal, the 2008 defending Champion finished 3rd awarding him a cash payout. Along with Kelly & Traci, this events organization is comprised of some very dedicated individuals, sponsors, donors and the Post Stampede Committee Directors who set aside personal time, dedication and funding to make this event the success it is becoming. Every year this event is growing, we are reaching a new level, & with growth we have to plan accordingly, as a family and a very unique group of friends, we have poured our souls in to this event; it is our infectious passion and driven purpose to make this event as successful as it can be. Closing out the evening the well known Western Swing Band “Jake Hooker and The Outsiders” provided great dance entertainment on the Covered Slab at the Post Stampede Arena grounds. “We are excited about the 2010 TBMBR.” As soon as one year ends, we start the planning for the next!” In the lineup for 2010, again, the crowd pleasing Shetland Bronc Riding along with the Open and Rookie Divisions are slated for the agenda. Jake Hooker and The Outsiders will once again provide great dance music and The Outlaw Chef will provide his infamous Chuckwagon cooking! Vendors as well will be onsite. Mark your calendar for October 16th, 2010! Proceeds from the bronc riding go toward Tom Butler Memorial Bronc Riding Scholarship and Foundation.
